The kwara state government has restated its commitment to the growth and development of sports in the state, just as it has assured of total support to ABS FC Ilorin in its quest to return to the premier league.
The state governor Alh. Abdulfattah Ahmed stated this Thursday in Ilorin at the official unveiling of the new head coach of ABS FC Mr Tunde Sanni and 21 newly signed players of the club.
Represented by the permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of sports and Youth development Elder Samuel Ayobola , governor Ahmed reiterated the state government commitment to create an enabling environment for sports and other social activities.
He said the role of sports in the socio economic development of the people cannot be over emphasized hence he called on other well meaning individuals and corporate organizations to emulate the proprietor of ABSFC and Senate president Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki for his commendable effort at floating the club for Nigerian youths.
Earlier in his welcome address the Director of football of ABS FC Alloy Chukwuemeka said the Club is working professionally in line with the cardinal objective of the owners , to develop football amongst the youths and to set standard for other clubs to emulate.
He added that the newly unveiled coach has a mandate to bring the club back to the top league and to work in accordance with the vision of the club .
Coach Tunde Sanni called for the support of the players, management, fans and supporters to achieve the task.
Dignitaries at the event included Nigeria pillar of sports Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, Chairman Kwara state football Association Mallam Busari Ishola, Commandant of the 22 Armoured brigade Ilorin Col. Ola Falade, SA to the Senate president Alh. Ismail Asuku, Legislative aide to the senate president Alh. Ali Oloola, Former board member of the Nigeria premier league Alh. Owolabi Wopa, and host of other football stakeholders.
