Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel played his fourth game on the spin for Tianjin Teda this season but his side suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Jiangsu Suning FC.
The Chinese Super League (CSL) game took place at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre
Tianjin coach Rongliang Chi paired Obi with Muzepper Mirahmetjan at the heart of midfield for the week 4 CSL game on Sunday with Jiangsu winning.
Goals from Black Stars forward Richmond Boakye and Brazilian international Alex Teixeira gave Jiangsu a two goal lead but Johnathan scored to reduce the deficit for the visiting team.
Obi’s performance on the day will come as a delight to Chi who had to rely on the former Chelsea star to orchestrate the good moves made by Tianjin.
