Ikorodu United had to dig deep before they could survive the scare of Sido Football Academy at the ongoing WGB/Lagos FA Cup.
The 12-goal thriller was decided via penalties on Thursday.
The Oga Boys raced to a 4-1 lead in the first half with the first three goals coming from Henry Emmanuel and Dede Moughara.
Pascal Onyiba netted Sido Football Academy’s only goal in the first half. But he had other plans as the introduction of Akinkumi Amoo and Olaniyan Alfred changed the flow of the match after Ikorodu United added two more goals with Shakiru Jolaoso and Adodo Stephen on target.
With scores at 6-1, Sido Football Academy step up their game with Akinkunmi Amoo pulling all the strings in the middle.
Before you can say Jack Robinson, Pascal Onyiba had scored four goals taking the match to 6-5 with about ten minutes to the end of the match.
With just few minutes to the end of the Round of 32 match, Pascal Onyiba came out of the blues again to level the scores at 6-6 all.
The Nigeria National League side, Ikorodu United later survived the Academy side’s scare winning the match 3-2 on penalties.
Pascal Onyiba expressed delight in scoring the goals but not happy that his goals can not take his team to the stage.
“I am happy scoring the goals, this is the first time, I will score 6 goals in a match, but at the same time sad that the goals can not take us to the next stage. Anyway I gave God the glory and thanks for making it possible for me to score those goals,” he said.
However, Ikorodu United will now play Premier league side and the defending champions, MFM International football club in the next stage of the championship.
