Ubong Moses Ekpai has signed a three-year deal with Czech Republic club Viktoria Plzen.
Ekpai has been operating in the Czech Republic since the 2016/2017 season, when he played for Slovan Liberec. He scored four goals in the league during 16 matches and added two assists.
He spent the next season in Zlín, where he scored seven goals in 28 league appearances and gave four assists.
Ekpai stated that he appended his signature for the best club in Czech Republic.
“I think Plzen is the best Czech Republic club. They play as a family and one team. I like that and I think it’s a good choice for me,” the former Akwa United star said immediately after signing the contract.
“My move to Viktoria is a big challenge for me. I will be able to play for the first time in the Champions League. I believe in myself and the guys here.”
“Limberský is the best defender in the Czech Republic, he plays well and cleverly and I look forward to playing with him. I also like Kopice, with whom we have exchanged jerseys for the last time in Zlín. I admire Krmenčíka because he gives goals. I will do everything to give him a few more.”
“In the Champions League I wish to face Real Madrid. I wish Cristano Ronaldo was with them at that time. Then we would tell him we beat him,” the Nigerian forward smiled.
General manager of the club, Adolf Šádek said that the arrival of Ekpai is important for the team.
“Ubong Ekpai is a speedy football player who is extremely important for the modern game. Moreover, he already has experience with European Cups. We are therefore glad to welcome him in Viktoria. I wish him to thrive in our jersey.”
