Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr will chop off five players from his provisional 30-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup before taking his team to London for an international friendly match against England on Saturday 2nd June.
The Super Eagles coach announced the 30-man preliminary squad some weeks back with some surprise inclusions with the likes of Stephen Eze, Junior Lokosa and Simeon Nwankwo making the provisional cut.
Eagles were forced to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo in a warm up at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Monday evening.
Rohr is expected to trim down his team in Abuja today before the team leaves for London to keep a date with the Three Lions of England.
“The coach presented a list of 30 players, but he can only take 24 players to London,” a top official of the NFF told Futbalgalore.com.
“He [Gernot Rohr] will have to cut five players before the team leaves Nigeria to England. Don’t forget that Victor Moses will link up with us when we get to London.”
The former Niger Republic boss will subsequently have to drop two more players on Monday June 4th.
