Niger Tornadoes head coach Hamza Abara thought his team was superior and worthy winners after their 1-0 victory over Wikki Tourists in the Northern derby on Sunday.
The Ikon Allah Boys got the victory in the rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) week 23 game thanks to Mubarak Ejiogu.
Even so, Abara refused to get carried away with the way in which his wards carried out the operation.
“The team fought so hard and didn’t play under pressure. The main objective was trying to get the first win of the season. However, we were superior and worthy winners against a team that you cannot allow to control the game,” Abara told Futbalgalore.com.
“If we had gone out to play their style then we would be talking about another game and another result.
“With teams who are theoretically good on the ball you have to play that way, otherwise you have no chance.
“The fact is that we deserved to win and it shows that if we play like that then we will be difficult to beat.”
Tornadoes are sixth on the NPFL log with 37 points from 24 games.
