Central defender Emmanuel Ariwachukwu has outlined Akwa United’s ambition to continue with a ‘game-by-game’ approach in the 2018 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
The Promise Keepers zoomed to second spot on the ladder with a 1-0 away win against Yobe Desert Stars on Sunday.
For their experienced defender, though, no-one in the camp is getting carried away.
“I think that taking things on a game-by-game basis is giving us strength, more-so than looking at future objectives,” considered Ariwachukwu to Futbalgalore.com.
“We only see the present. We are in second place and have 14 more games to play.
“We’ve been going step by step and winning our matches. That’s the attitude we want to stick with.
“We always want to give our maximum.”
“The entire team is working hard. I may not be one of those players who plays a lot but I always look to take advantage when I do, just like the rest of my teammates.
