Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic has praised his Croatia teammates after they defeated Nigeria on Saturday night.
The Blades humbled the wingless Eagles in Kaliningrad, beating Gernot Rohr’s men 2-0 in their opening group match.
“The match went exactly how the coaching staff predicted it would,” he said.
“They closed us up early in the match and really gave us a good fight. The first goal came at the right time and we marched on from there. We went on, and on, and on.”
The Croats will face Argentina in a blockbuster on Thursday but the midfielder who will be facing his club teammate Lionel Messi appeared calm and ready for the assignment.
“Facing a player like Messi isn’t always an easy task. No team likes such because of his enormous abilities.
“We will concentrate on ourselves and seal our place with victory on Thursday. We have what it takes to go all the way in this tournament,” he added.
