Skipper John Obi Mikel has insisted that the Nigerian squad are ‘more united than ever’ after their loss against Croatia on Saturday night.
The Super Eagles were beaten 2-0 by the Blades in their World Cup Group D opener yesterday, but despite the result, the midfielder has claimed that the squad are ready to go again and redeem their image.
“The boys are more united than ever,” he told Futbalgalore.com.
“The success of this group depends on how we get up after difficult times.
“Much is expected of us, but we hope to have the enthusiasm of our fans and the country.
“We haven’t been sent home yet. We will keep on dreaming until it’s not possible any more.
“It was a nightmare start, we are hurting, but we have the motivation and hunger to go again.
“There are no time for regrets – the defeat is going to be extra motivation for the next game.
“We accept all the criticism that’s coming our way, but I believe we can do well in this tournament.”
