Heimir Hallgrímsson has backed his Iceland players to beat Nigeria on Friday and knock the Super Eagles out of the World Cup.
The debutants held two-time winners Argentina to a 1 -1 draw in their first game on Saturday at the Spartak Stadium .
They will be up against the Super Eagles on Friday at the Volgograd Arena in their second ever game in the competition.
But Hallgrímsson believe that his men can go toe-to-toe with Gernot Rohr side.
“If we play well, win and kick them out of the World Cup it will be very positive for us,” he said.
“We know Nigeria need to win tomorrow and that they are out if they lose.
“This is obviously something we are bearing in mind. We will choose a side that suits playing against a team that must win to stay in the tournament.”
“It took a lot of energy to get this point, but it was worth it.
“To have one point is very important.
“Now, we go to a game that Nigeria preferably needs to win. I think we are, well, at least in a better situation today than they are.”
