The FIFA World Cup Group D game against Argentina seems to have spawned a new celebrity.
Rurik Gislasons saw his followers on Instagram rise from about 30 thousand to 623 thousand since Iceland’s debut on Saturday.
“This is of course just funny, and something we all enjoy in the squad. It’s fun, especially for him,” Alfred Finnbogason said about his teammate.
“We were in the locker room after the game and then he had 70 thousand followers. Then he refreshed and had 75. I don’t know what was happening in South America while the game was on, but this is just good for him and his market value.”
“I think he’s finally getting the attention that he deserves.” Hannes Halldorsson agreed.
