New Zealand official Matthew Conger will take charge of Nigeria’s second World Cup group game, against Iceland on Friday.
Futbalgalore.com reports that the meeting of the two Group D teams will be Conger’s first game of the tournament.
Conger, 39, is an American born soccer referee, who resides in Palmerston North, New Zealand. He operates in the Australian A-League and the New Zealand Football Championship, and his other occupation is as a teacher in Palmerston North.
In 2017, he was named the New Zealand referee of the year.
