On Friday, the Nigerian national team defeated that of Iceland in the second part of the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
The game was held at the Volvograd Arena and ended with the score of 2-0. Musa scored both goals.
The hero of the match was undoubtedly Musa, who came alive in the second half and played superbly, scoring both Nigerian goals. His first finish in particular will surely live long in the memory as one of the goals of the tournament: he controlled Victor Moses’ cross with one touch, setting himself up for an unstoppable half-volley with his second. Both Musa’s strikes were warmly received by the crowd at the Volgograd Arena, many of whom are familiar with the striker from his spells at CSKA Moscow.
He becomes Nigeria’s top scorer at the World Cup with four goals and two adrift Africa’s top scorer Asamoah Gyan of Ghana.
In the third part of the group stage, Nigeria will play against Argentina at the New Zenit Stadium on June 26; Croatia and Iceland will meet at the Rostov-on-Don Stadium the same day.
