Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo was at the double as Changchun Yatai bounced back to winning ways with a 3-0 thumping of Dalian Yifang in the Chinese Super League (CSL) on Wednesday.
Dalian Yifang were reduced to 10 men as early as five minutes when Shanping Yang was given the marching order.
Ighalo wasted little time in getting back on the scoresheet with the opener inside 10 minutes from the penalty spot.
Shortly after, Ighalo headed an aerial delivery around the post from a narrow angle.
The hosts continued to monopolise possession without managing to pile the pressure on Dalian Lifang, who set up camp on the edge of the area and were content to have conceded just a single shot on target as at 20th minute.
Adrian Mierzejewski doubled the lead for Changchun Yatai as the homers looked to put the contest to bed as quickly as possible on the half hour.
Ighalo looked destined to double his tally only to see his volley go inches wide of the post.
He only had to wait a matter of moments to instead make it 3-0 from the penalty spot in the 39th minute.
Goalkeeper Chong Zhang did his best to keep the deficit down by denying Ighalo a third at close-range.
The former Udinese and Watford forward was replaced by Changcheng Cheng seven minutes after the hour mark.
Changchun Yatai’s next CSL assignment is a tough home match against Shanghai Shenhua on Saturday 4th August.
