Following a reply by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to the FIFA TMS, the tension has been doused on the likely cancellation of Okiki Afolabi’s four-year deal to Ismaily SC, reports Futbalgalore.com.
The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) had alleged that the representatives of Okiki Afolabi tendered forged documents to facilitate his transfer to Ismaily SC.
The 23-year-old striker scored 23 goals to finish as Ethiopian league’s top scorer as Jimma Aba Jifar won the title on goal difference.
According to reports monitored online the Nigerian forward allegedly presented a fake document during his transfer to Egyptian side Ismaily SC.
In a message addressed to the Ethiopian Football Federation by Dana Butticker of the TMS Helpdesk, the request for cancellation of Okiki Afolabi’s move to Ismaily SC was turned down.
‘We note that TMS 207243 is again in status “Cancellation requested”. We further note that the Ethiopian FA has several times requested the transfer cancellation on this basis: “It’s a forged release letter which has the fake signature of the president of Ethiopian Football federation,” a message from the TMS desk was addressed to
“We remind again the Ethiopian FA that if the employment contract with the club in Ethiopia has not expired or there has not been a mutual agreement regarding its termination, the ITC request should be rejected.”
“In other words, if the player is still under contract with the club in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian FA may reject the ITC request.
“If the player is still under contract in Ethiopia, the Ethiopian FA should not request the cancellation of the transfer again.
“Please note that an incorrect response to the ITC request is a breach of the Regulations, subject to the administrative sanction procedure and your association may be subject to a fine.
The player’s contract with Jimar ran out at the end of the Ethiopian Premier League season and that means the club was no longer in control of his economic right.
It will also be recalled that EFF are yet to pay Okiki Afolabi his prize money for emerging as Ethiopian Premier League top scorer and best foreign player.
