Elche have reached an agreement to sign Deportivo La Coruna goalkeeper Francis Uzoho on a season-long loan deal, which can be made permanent next summer.
Despite being Super Eagles of Nigeria first choice goalkeeper at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in France, the 19-year-old is fourth choice at Spanish Segunda Division team Deportivo.
With Uzoho in search of regular first team football and Elche needing a replacement for Unai Simón who moved to Athlétic de Bilbao last week, this looks like an ideal match for both parties.
Elche were thrown out of the top division in Spain as a punishment for not paying tax debts, despite finishing 13th on the table.
Uzoho will automatically become their first choice goalkeeper, with two youth team shot stoppers set to deputise for him.
The move has already been completed, although it hasn’t been officially rubber stamped by the Spanish LIGA BBVA.
