Midfielder Anefiok Godspower has defended his decision to join Lithuanian strugglers FK Palanga.
The enforcer has come under intense criticism with many believing the move is a draw-back to his career.
However, the former Akwa United insists the decision to join the club would serve his career best.
“It may not be an elite side but it is just a step below,” he told Futbalgalore.com.
“People are asking why I would go to Lithuania but the truth is they were the only club that truly wanted me.”
“People mentioned all sorts of clubs in Germany, in Spain, in France and wondered why I did not go but the point is as a player I can’t force myself on a club. I can’t go to a club and tell them I am Anefiok Godspower, please sign me.”
