Everton are reportedly eyeing a move for Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu.
Kalu, 21, has been a transfer target for AS Roma and West Ham United in the last one week due to his impressive performance for Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1.
The former Trencin player is also an international, having made four appearances for the senior national team of Nigeria, reports Futbalgalore.com.
This summer Sky Sports reported that Everton were set to discuss a £30m deal plus add-ons with Bordeaux chairman Stephane Martin for the signature of Malcom. A deal worth £80k-a-week was set to be discussed.
However, the next morning, the Liverpool Echo poured cold water over the reports. They stated no bid was present, or planned from Everton for the Brazilian. Instead, they continued a successful pursuit of compatriot Richarlison from Watford.
Malcom did move on. Barcelona swooped in and signed him from under the noses of AS Roma. The deal was worth a reported £36.5 million and the Brazilian’s arrival actually helped Everton sign Yerry Mina, as Barca cut their non-EU quota.
Bordeaux did sign a replacement. They snapped up Samuel Kalu from Gent and it has been a successful move so far for the 21-year-old.
Now, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, he is being scouted by Everton.
In a bizarre twist of fate, the man charged with replacing a seemingly erroneous Everton target, Malcom, is now being watched by the Toffees.
Everton do however have plenty of options out wide. Whilst Malcom would be welcome despite that fact, Kalu still has some work to do before being in a position where Everton would back him to get the better of Theo Walcott, Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Bernard and Ademola Lookman.
