Asisat Oshoala opened her 2018 Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON)goal account with a hat-trick in Nigeria’s 6-0 win against Equatorial Guinea on Saturday.
Washington Spirit forward Francisca Ordega profited from Rita Chikwelu’s assist to put Nigeria in front 11 minutes into kickoff.
The rampaging Falcons continued to search for more goals and got the second from Oshoala who profited from Oparanozie’s delivery to score.
Oshoala was once again on song for the eight-time African champions as they raced to a three-goal lead.
The former Rivers Angels, Arsenal and Liverpool striker showed great instinct to complete her hat-trick as the first stanza ended 4-0 in favour of the unstoppable Falcons.
It was 5-0 in the 48th minute. Diminutive forward Ordega ran at the defenders before setting up Oparanozie who finished with aplomb.
Falcons skipper Chikwelu had her fair share of the goals after the keeper spilled the ball from a tussle in the box. She turked to the empty net.
Nigeria will face Cameroon in the semi final of the competition.
The top three teams at the AWCON 2018 will represent Africa at the 2019 World Cup in France.
