Alex Iwobi impressed for Arsenal as they lost 1-0 to West Ham in the Premier League at London Stadium on Saturday.
Iwobi, 22, made his 19th Premier League appearance of the season for the Gunners who couldn’t earn bragging rights in the London derby.
He has also scored two goals for the Gunners in the 2018/19 Premier League campaign.
It was Arsenal who started the stronger, with Alexandre Lacazette forcing a 13th-minute save out of Lukasz Fabianski with a low shot, after his driving run from Iwobi’s pass had taken him beyond the penalty spot.
West Ham grew into the game after the opening 20 minutes, with new signing Samir Nasri instrumental in much of their attacking play. The playmaker had a chance to score against his former club when he dragged wide following a one-two with Marko Arnautovic.
Nasri’s layoff teed up Felipe Anderson for a piledriver which had Leno beaten but flew just wide, and Guendouzi came equally close for Arsenal at the other end on 35 minutes, rustling the side-netting with a shot from 25 yards out.
The best chance of the first half fell to Rice, who glanced a header from Anderson’s corner wide of the far post, but he did not have to wait long to make amends with his first Hammers goal within three minutes of the restart.
Arsenal failed on several occasions to clear from a set piece and were made to pay as Rice showed admirable technique and composure to bend the ball beyond Leno from 15 yards out, Nasri registering the assist on his first Premier League appearance since August 2016.
Arsenal did enjoy a 10-minute period when they were knocking on the door for an equaliser, as Iwobi fired a left-footed shot just past the post and Guendouzi had another go from distance, albeit straight into the safe hands of Fabianski.
The Gunners did have the ball in the net twice in the second half, but both efforts were disallowed for clear offsides against Sead Kolasinac, and they largely went down with a whimper as they failed to score for the first time in 20 league games.
