Nigerian national and Sunderland striker Josh Maja is reportedly on the verge of signing with Ligue 1 side, Bordeaux.
After 20 matches played in the French top flight, Bordeaux are said to be having a hard time scoring goals, with only 23 goals netted, an average of 1.15 goals per match week, and manager Eric Bedouet admitted that he’s in the market for a new striker signing.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference on Thursday, January 24 Bedouet stated : ”I know a little bit about the player, We do not have time to look too much, our job is to take care of what is happening on the ground, to prepare the team.”
“But we have a sufficiently professional team, specialists who take care of that. We knew him a little.”
”His profile? We need a scorer, that’s what we need. Apparently, this season he is scoring goals.”
This season, Josh Maja has tallied 16 goals from 30 appearances in all competitions, including 15 goals in the EFL League One.
His contract with Sunderland runs out at the end of the 2018/19 campaign and he has refused to renew his contract.
