Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis is delighted his club could secure the signing of John Obi Mikel.
The 31-year-old has arrived at the club and Pulis believes his credentials will impress the rest of the squad.
Mikel was playing in the Chinese Super League, before becoming a free agent in November.
He was also Nigeria captain at the past World Cup in Russia.
“He’s a winner,” Pulis said to reporters about Mikel.
“He’s had that experience, and Chelsea won almost everything with him as part of the team.
“A good player, and a winner, and hopefully that rubs off on everyone around the football club.”
