Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday won the Russian Cup final after defender Ural by 1-0 to be crowned champions, reports Futbalgalore.com.
Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu logged 90 minutes for the Steam Locomotives at the Samara Arena.
Defensive midfielder Dmitry Barinov headed in the only goal of the game at the near post after a corner from Manuel Fernandes in the 27th minute.
Earlier, his Lokomotiv teammate Fyodor Smolov had a goal ruled out for offside by the video assistant referee, the first time the system had been used in a Russian Cup final.
Lokomotiv, who second in the Russian Premier League with one game to play, won the Russian Cup for the eighth time, and had last won the trophy in 2017 but for the Nigerian full back it becomes the first time he has won the covetous trophy.
Idowu, 27, scored eight minutes into his debut for Nigeria after coming off the bench at half-time as the Super Eagles came from two goals down to beat Argentina 4-2 in 2017.
This season, Idowu has played 16 games in all competitions for Lokomotiv Moscow and logging 909 minutes in total.
He has been named on stand by Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
