It was a deserved win for the Super Falcons as they opened their France 2019 account with a 2-0 victory over South Korea on Wednesday afternoon in Grenoble.
They did everything asked of them. Kept their concentration in defence, worked hard in the midfield and finished off their chances in attack.
Key points and goals have given them a chance to advance from the group stage for the first time since 1999.
A point against France could now be enough for Thomas Dennerby’s team to qualify from Group A while South Korea – who lost 4-0 to France – must beat Norway to maintain any hope of progression.
After defeats in their opening games, both teams were aware that three points would go a long way to securing a place in the last 16 and it was Nigeria who looked to force the pace from kickoff.
