Nigeria slipped three places down on the latest FIFA ranking released for May on Friday but maintained their place in Africa to occupy the third position on the continent.
The Super Eagles are now ranked the 45th best team in the world after moving up four places for the April edition.
Senegal remain the highest ranked African country and 22nd in the world.
The Teranga Lions are followed by Tunisia (25th) and Nigeria (45th).
Europe occupies the top two places with Belgium and France in first and second respectively.
They are followed by Brazil (3rd), England (4th) and Portugal (5th).
