Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, who spent the second half of last season at Kaizer Chiefs, will start for Nigeria in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) game against Burundi on Saturday.
Akpeyi joined Chiefs from Chippa United in January 2019 having made 18 appearances.
The former Heartland and Warri Wolves shot stopper played in just six PSL games for Chiefs in the second stanza, and many critics suggested his inactivity might jeopardize his national spot.
With young keeper Francis Uzoho also not getting enough game time in the 2018/19 season, his place in the Super Eagles set up was also threatened.
Akpeyi impressed Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr in recent friendlies against Zimbabwe and Senegal, with the Franco-German ready to keep faith with him in the opening match with Burundi.
The Super Eagles have conceded three goals in their last five matches while their next opponents, Burundi, have let in five goals from the same number of games.
