Coach Abdullahi Biffo says the Super Eagles must not be distracted at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as they start their quest for their fourth title when they play Burundi on Saturday in this year’s tournament in Egypt.
The former Niger Tornadoes coach wants the players to be in the moment at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and not be distracted.
Eagles last won the tournament on 2013 and failed to qualify for two editions of the competition.
The three-time champions start their campaign to win the title on Saturday when they face Burundi in their opening group match.
“In the last Nations Cup we attended, we were winners and now I think the team is a better side,” Biffo told Futbalgalore.com ahead of Saturday’s Group B clash with Burundi.
“But that is for memories – now the lad want to achieve something.”
The Super Eagles will face an easy struggle as they will play Guinea and Madagascar in their remaining Group B matches to determine who advances from the group.
