Finnish Veikkausliga outfit HJK Helsinki have ripped up experienced left back Elderson Echijille’s contract by mutual consent.
The 31-year-old former AS Monaco defender arrived last March on a one year.
He made five appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist for the Klube in the Veikkausliga but has been allowed to move on.
The club said in a statement: “HJK and Elderson Echiejille have terminated their contract and Elderson will not continue with the HJK team.”
“We thank Elderson for his contribution to the team and the club and wish him all the best in the future. Thanks, Eddy.”
He was a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2010 and 2018 World Cups and was omitted from the 2014 roster only after picking up an injury in a friendly vs Greece.
Apart from Monaco, he has also spent time in the colours of Bendel Insurance, Sporting Braga, Rennes, Standard Liege, Sporting Gijon, Sivasspor and Cercle Brugge.
