Former Chelsea and Tianjin Teda midfielder John Obi Mikel will play for Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor in the 2019/20 season, reports Futbalgalore.com.
He has agreed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor.
The Trabzon based side have reached an agreement to sign the 32-year-old on a free transfer with the option of an additional one year.
According to sources, the Black Sea Storm seem intent on getting their man and kept tabs on his impressive outings in the 2018/19 season.
Despite recently turning 32, Mikel would add experience to the Trabzonspor side that will be challenging on multiple fronts next season. The midfielder has vast experience, with 87 international caps to his name.
He will be having the luxury of playing alongside his international teammates Ogenyi Onazi and Anthony Nwakaeme at the club.
Mikel was available on a free transfer after leaving Middlesbrough following a six-month spell at the Riverside.
He scored one goal in 18 Sky Bet Championship games after joining the club in January but was unable to help the team gain promotion to the Premier League.
He had a brief spell at Lyn Oslo before making a move to Chelsea Football Club.
Mikel has played in two of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations games, including their 2-0 loss to Madagascar.
