Nigerian International striker Stephen Odey has sent emotional message to former club FC Zurich after joining the Belgian Pro League Champions, KRC Genk.
Odey, 21, joined UEFA Champions League side Genk from Swiss Super League side for four years for a reported 3.5 million Euros for four years after scoring 16 goals in all competition last season.
The former MFM FC of Lagos striker wrote the emotional message to FC Zurich and its fans on his official Twitter page this morning.
“With emotions that I am writing this message. To everyone at FC Zurich for the opportunity given to me to play here, to my teammates who helped me win trophy and score goals, to all the staff who made my time here so easy and to all the fans who made me feel so special.
“Week in week out, you all stood by me during the good and bad times, you all are amazing.
“It has been an incredible journey and it is with great sadness that I must say goodbye. I will miss you all and wish you the best of luck for the future,” he tweeted.
The forward also added that his move to Belgian side is a step towards achieving his goals as a soccer player.
“My move to @KRCGenkofficial is a step closer to greater achievement ahead of me which I believe will come to past with discipline, hardwork and prayer.
“Genk is a big club with huge ambition. I’m honoured to be here to achieve greatness with this club”.
During his two years spell at Zurich, Stephen won the prestigious Swiss Cup which qualified his team for UEFA Europa League where he scored two goals.
