Super Eagles and Arsenal of England attacking midfielder Kelechi Nwakali will not have the chance to convince Unai Emery on Saturday as Arsenal take on lower division side Boreham Wood at Meadow Park in a preseason friendly.
Nwakali who is yet to play any competitive game for the North London side since he joined them was snubbed for the warm up.
The midfielder who has been sent out on loan four times (MVV Maastricht twice, VVV Venlo and Porto B Kasimpasa) will not have opportunity to play with Nigerian born players like Mazeed Ogungbo, goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, defender Joseph Olowu, midfielder James Olayinka, winger Xavier Amaechi and striker Folarin Balogun in the Gunners team.
Nigerian midfielder Nwakali, 21, arrived in North London to much fanfare in 2016 having been identified by the Gunners’ as one of the star players in the Super Eagles’ Under-17 World Cup winning side of the previous year.
However Nwakali struggled to make a major impact either in the youth setup or out on loan, where he spent time with Dutch clubs VVV Venlo, MVV Maastricht and Porto B.
Nwakali is already thinking about another loan switch with hosts of clubs jostling for his signature.
