Wilfred Ndidi marked his 30th appearance for Nigeria with an energetic performance against Cameroon, and played a large role in Saturday afternoon’s victory, winning plaudits.
What a way to mark 30 caps. Ndidi impressed many in Saturday’s round-of-sixteen match against Cameroon, covering much distance over the course of the match, and was often the man that initiated many of the Super Eagles’ attacking plays.
Ndidi demonstrated his defensive capabilities, as he was the most effective defensive player overall. The sight of Ndidi recovering the ball and charging down the flanks, making passes and crosses, became common sight. Even as time was running out for the Eagles, the Leicester City enforcer was as unrelenting as ever, working tirelessly in the drive forward as the Eagles eventually ran out 3-2 winners.
Though much of the media attention is focused on Odion Ighalo’s following his brace against Cameroon.
After compliments are awarded to Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Ahmed Musa, as well as Ighalo, for yet another fine display, Ndidi deserves his share of plaudits for a truly inspiring performance on his 30th appearance for the national team
