Ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi final match between Nigeria and Algeria at the Cairo International Stadium on Sunday, Super Eagles Manager Gernot Rohr says “the moment has come to bring the best team on the pitch”.
The coach has been criticised for not fielding Henry Onyekuru and Victor Osimhen despite their impressive form in the 2018/19 league season at AFCON 2019.
In the dead rubber against Madagascar, the former Gabon boss was reluctant to give playing time to the skillful forwards.
The coach gave an update on the situation of those that are yet to feature at the World Press Conference in Cairo on Saturday.
“We had two changes for the game against South Africa. The winning team against Cameroon was changed,” the Franco-German gaffer said.
“I belief everybody is ready in our young team. We have a lot of strikers. They are seven. All of them can’t play at the same time.
“The young players are here to learn. From our 23-man squad we have seen 20 players involved which says a lot.
“I hope we can see two other players to show what they can do. It’s difficult for the third goalkeeper to come in at this stage.
“We tried to give competition to some of our players against Madagascar.
“The moment has come tomorrow (Sunday) to bring the best team on the pitch.
Sunday’s game kicks-off at 8pm.
