Winger Moses Simon believes that the Super Eagles were professional in dispatching Tunisia in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) third place playoff on Wednesday night, reports Futbalgalore.com.
Third place Kings Nigeria shrugged off the painful semi final loss to Algeria with a 1-0 victory against the Carthage Eagles at the Al Salam Stadium thanks to a third minute strike from Odion Ighalo.
Simon who is known back home as “Nigerian Ronaldo” was very happy that the Super Eagles did very well to win Bronze medal in Egypt.
“We are glad, we believe our people back home would be proud of us,” the former Trencin winger told Futbalgalore.com.
The Super Eagles were far from their best but did well to hold on to a slim lead and saw out the game.
“We all are professionals.”
“The onus was on us to go our there and get the job done.”
The Nigerian Ronaldo provided two assists in six appearances for the Super Eagles in AFCON 2019 and he couldn’t have been happier with his contribution.
“I’m satisfied with my performance in this tournament but there is room for improvement,” he added.
Moses Simon was a second half substitute in the third place battle in Cairo.
