Nigeria international Chidozie Awaziem has joined Spanish La Liga Santander side Club Deportivo Leganes on loan from FC Porto ahead of the 2019/2020 season.
The defender joined FC Porto in 2014 but has been enjoying loan spells in the last couple of seasons to ensure he gets more playing time and to help him continue his development.
Ahead of the upcoming season, Porto has decided he will not play a key role in their setup and has, therefore, sent him out on another loan spell.
Leganes confirmed the acquisition of the player on Thursday to help boost their squad going into next season.
Chidozie Awaziem, now 22 years old can play as the central defender or play from right back and is expected to provide options for Leganes manager Mauricio Pellegrino when the going gets tough.
He spent second half of last season on loan at Caykur Rizespor where he made 16 appearances in the Turkish Super Lig after joining in January.
The player has now linked up with international teammate Kenneth Omeruo at Leganes.
Having joined the side, Awaziem is confident of helping Los Pepineros to make a good case for themselves when the new season starts.
The defender, who will wear the number 12, will be immediately incorporated into training under the orders of Mauricio Pellegrino and will be presented soon.
