Former Flying Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has disclosed that young winger Ibrahim Sunusi is a great talent who needs to continue to work hard in other to achieve great things in football.
Nigeria will defend their Africa U23 Cup of Nations title in Egypt in November after the Olympic Eagles secured a ruthless 5-0 win over their Sudanese counterparts in the final qualifying leg at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Tuesday evening.
A brace by Ndifreke Effiong and one each by Taiwo Awoniyi, Sunday Faleye and Sunusi Ibrahim ensured a 5-1 aggregate win for the 1996 Olympic champions.
Awoniyi praised the performance of the Nasarawa United winger in an interview with Futbagalore.com shortly after the game.
“For me Sunusi Ibrahim is a great guy and if I am not mistaken he made the most runs and took the most shots at goal today, for him to play at this stage as a player so good and so well shows the type of talent he has in him,” the ex Frankfurt forward told Futbalgalore.com.
“I will just encourage him to pray and keep working hard and soon everything will fall into place for him at the right time, I think he is a great talent for the country,” he concluded.
Sunusi Ibrahim produced a Man of the match performance as he was involved in three goals (scored one, assisted one, Awoniyi scored from his saved effort at goal) as the national U23 team dismantled their Sudanese counterparts.
