Rivers United Manager Stanley Eguma says he’s satisfied after his side opened their Gov Okowa Pre Season Tourney campaign with a 1-0 win over ten-man Abia Warriors.
The former Enyimba coach master minded the Pride of Rivers to victory at the Stephen Keshi Stadium on Wednesday.
Fatai Abdullahi was sent to the showers for dissent before Bakari Bamba swung the game decisively in his side’s favour with a well crafted strike.
“It was good for us to start the tournament with victory,” Stanley Eguma told Gov Okowa Cup Media.
“Abia Warriors are an excellent team and we knew that. They are very strong from free-kicks and corners and they have strong players in attack. But we have more creative players than them and we knew how to set up our tactics against them. From the counterattacks we had four big chances.
“You know it’s a tournament, we are just starting. It is not yet time. We are still assessing our team. There are many new players. The boys tried and gave a good account of themselves,” he added.
