Nigeria international Joel Obi excelled in helping Chievo Verona to an impressive 2-0 win at 10-man Venezia in a Serie-B game played on Saturday.
The player who featured in his first match of the campaign lasted the entire duration of the game which saw the hosts stunned before their home crowd at the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo.
Joel Obi played from right back and gave a good account of himself in an unfamiliar role.
Emanuele Giaccherini and Filip Djordjevic strikes proved enough to hand all three vital points to The Yellow and Blues.
Obi played a big role in the win as his solidity helped Chievo Verona from the several offensive threats of Venezia.
He arrived in Chievo Verona in the summer of 2018 and has recorded 12 appearances in total for the club, scoring one goal against Bologna in November 2018.
The 28-year-old previously turned out for Inter Milan, Parma and Torino and Alanyaspor.
He was a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 World Cup but did not see action during the tournament.
