Rivers United goalkeeper Ospino Egbe has described his side’s Gov Okowa Pre Season Tourney semifinal defeat to Kwara United as ‘very painful’.
The Harmony Boys pipped Rivers United 1-0 to set up a date with Lobi Stars at the final on Thursday.
“It’s very painful to lose the semifinal. Very disappointed, very painful. We tried, we were fighting. We had the chance also in the last minute two chances, this is football,” the former Ocean Boys shot stopper told Futbalgalore.com.
“Maybe if we had scored two [goals] then it’s a different history. The guys tried to fight until the last second but the reality is that we lost, this is very painful.”
Ospino continued: “I feel the pain. I apologise to our supporters. We tried our best, we tried everything.
“Football is about the details, the details today were with Kwara United. The details is about scoring and not scoring. We score, maybe we equalise and maybe we win on penalties. This is football.”
The Pride of Rivers will face Niger Tornadoes in the third place match on Thursday at 1pm.
