The League Management Company (LMC) will reportedly meet with the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Sunday Dare to rubber stamp the 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
Insiders have claimed that the much awaited 2019/20 NPFL season will kickoff on November 3.
The LMC will be meeting with the Sports Minister this week to agree on this, a reliable source close to those that makes decisions stated via NSM.
“The LMC is ready to go ahead with the proposed October 20 date but the club owners and other stakeholders thought otherwise,” the Source stated.
“They (LMC) also want to get his blessing and approval as the number one supporter of the league.
The source further explained: “The Minister will listen to them and hopefully approve the new kickoff date. There is every likelihood he won’t go against it as all parties are working together for the interest of the league.”
“He (Sunday Dare) knows the place of football in the hearts of all Nigerians and he understands that football remains the single most unifying sport that brings Nigerians together and he will do everything possible to utilise this, in fostering national unity and getting the Nigerian youths out of the streets.
“He is more focused than any of his predecessors and his actions at getting things right at all time must not be misconstrued as interference rather, stakeholders should appreciate him more for coming out when it matters to say it as it is,” the source concluded.
