KRC Genk striker Stephen Odey was thrilled to score against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
Genk were beaten 4-1 by the Reds.
The former MFM FC and FC Zurich forward etched his name in the record book, after netting his first UCL goal.
“I really wanted to score in the Champions League. It is my first goal in this competition and I am very happy. I am dedicating it to myself and those who are with me each day. It was a tough goal for me to get. I have worked a lot and it is difficult to play for this side, as everyone is a good player. I am very happy,” he told Futbalgalore.com.
“We knew that the game would be difficult. Liverpool are strong and you could see how they played well. They are a difficult side because they are very compact, they pressure well up front and then defend well. We knew that it would be a difficult game.”
On working with coach Felice Mazzu, the former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) added: “I am happy that the manager gives me confidence. He has given us all confidence. He is fully behind everyone and that is very important. I am delighted to have him as a manager. You learn from him as a person and as a manager.”
Stephen Odey has scored two goals in all competitions for KRC Genk.
