It is rumoured that Leicester City are ready to ease off Kelechi Iheanacho and settle the remaining two years in his contract.
Nacho as he is fondly called especially in his days at Manchester City is no longer listed in his club’s games which signifies that he may be declared surplus to requirement by the next transfer window.
However, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel for him if truly Steve Bruce wants him for the magpies as being speculated.
But will this move if true solve the problem of this lad? I once did a piece on him staying unequivocally that he needs help….and spiritual one for that matter. His drop should be great concern to all lover of the sport and indeed all compatriots.
From Manchester City, Nacho has been on a free fall. He left the Citizens once Pep Guardiola stepped in to replace Manuel Pellegrini who signed the teenage Nigerian once he delighted the world in the UAE at the cadet World Cup in 2013. From Etihad to Leicester City for a club record of £25m in a five year deal.
But today, Nacho is not finding life rosy at the club. He may be forced out. And if he eventually joins Newcastle United, who knows if he would be haunted by the ghost of inaction and match-rustiness? Who knows if this free fall will continue. That would be a huge nightmare as it could cast a dark shadow on his career God forbid.
Recall that this was exactly why he was not on Gernot Rohr’s initial list for Egypt 2019 AFCON tournament. This boy really needs help!
