As clubs in the Nigerian professional Football League (NPFL) prepare for the forthcoming season, Nasarawa United striker Victor Okoro has said unequivocally that he would be a player to reckon with.
The prodigy while speaking exclusively to Maxinews24.com discloses that, “I’m battle ready to take my team beyond where we finished on the log during the abridged league season. I know it’s not going to be an easy task for me but I can tell you that football is won when a player shows determination and mental readiness.”
The former Jigawa Golden Stars attacker dropped hint on the level of preparations given to the Solid Miners under the tutelage the Bala Nyiku led technical crew.
“We started our preseason preparations in Abuja where we played couple of matches before the journey to Kano for Alhan Cup. This helped my mental strength during the tournament in Kano and no doubt it also served as major avenue for the coaching crew to examine the readiness of both old and new players, and the result was not far fetched as we were crowned champions of this year’s most prestigious Preseason tourney in Nigeria (Alhan cup),” he hinted.
Victor Onyeka Okoro who was snapped up by Nasarawa United before the commencement of 2016/2017 NPFL season, announced himself in the same season scoring 8 goals with 4 quality assists whilst he emerged Solid Miners’ highest goals scorer of 2016/2017.
Okoro who hails from Enugu but born and raised in Kafanchan Kaduna state, began his football career at JBS football academy in Abuja before making a switch to Jigawa Golden stars for the 2015/2016 Nigerian national league football season.
Coach Bala Nyiku would be relying on talented Victor Okoro’s innate football abilities raging from his intelligence on the ball, agility and offensive nature when launching attack. His precision in mobility is advantageous to the team’s pattern as this helps unlock the siege lay down by Nasarawa United opponents in most cases.
