Defender Joshua Akpudje has praised Tony Bolus’ character, stating that his new Coach’s focus is the reason behind MFM FC’s newfound confidence.
“He has an extraordinary character and he’s looking to get it across. On Sunday, he urged us to play with freedom and enjoy ourselves,” revealed Joshua Akpudje of his new MFM FC boss.
“He’s conveying quality of play to us, looking to always make us compact and focused. We needed someone who could give us that psychological release and now we should show the results of his work in every game.”
Ahead of MFM FC’s home game against FC Ifeanyi Ubah, the defender told Futbalgalore.com of his belief that the team’s preparations have been key to their strong start to the season.
“After the final pre-season games where many were saying that we weren’t ready, the match against Heartland instead showed that the work we’ve done in the friendlies has been worthwhile.”
The Nigeria U23 defender then looked ahead to the weekend’s opponents FC Ifeanyi Ubah, and warned of complacency.
“This is the first home game for us. The onus falls on me to give my best and prove myself. It’s a stepping stone for me and the team as a whole.
“It’s games like the one against FC Ifeanyi Ubah which are important in order to stay at the top end of the table all the way through.
“They will be aggressive from the start and try to frustrate us.
“We’ll need to do the same, looking to take the game to them from the very beginning.”
“There’s fear that the victory against Heartland could be a one-off, given that many didn’t give us the chance. We have able to work during the week without interruptions, above all from the psychological point of view.”
